1. What is pihms?

pihms, Inc. is a solution focused on best practices for tracking, measuring and managing human capital.  pihms’ unique (and patented) process takes employee leave, safety, onsite medical and case management information from disparate sources and delivers it to the right decision makers at the right time.  The workflow ensures that best practices are used to remain compliant with all FML and OSHA regulations.

2. How is pihms delivered?

pihms utilizes the “Software as a Service” delivery model which provides a simple (and shorter) implementation process and lower start up costs (no hardware to buy).  The only requirement is a computer with internet access and a web browser.

3. How secure is the information documented in pihms?

Access to pihms is controlled by field and role based security policies.  Once the username and password have been authenticated, the user is only allowed to see and perform actions that are related to their role within the organization.  The backend hardware and software is maintained at a SAS-70 certified data center.

4. Does pihms provide a self-service module for employees and/or managers?

Yes, pihms offers an Employee Web Portal that includes relevant data in a dashboard format for a quick view of their available benefits as well as the means to submit and track the status of leave requests.  In a similar fashion, the Manager Web Portal provides information updated in real time regarding their direct reports and what issues they need to address.

5. Does pihms support the ability to manage governmentally mandated Leave regulations?

Yes, all US Federal and State Family Medical Leave regulations are built in to the pihms rules engine. Other country regulations such as Canada, UK, Mexico, etc are also available. Leaves can be taken in consecutive days or intermittently. Intermittent leave can be taken in the smallest payroll unit. The system provides a daily decrementing of the available leave balances keeping the employee availability up to date.

6. How are updates made to the software when there are changes in governmental leave regulations? How are these changes communicated to your clients? Do you offer training to client staff in conjunction with these changes?

pihms, Inc. utilizes a legal service, its SHRM membership and internal HR expertise to stay up-to-date for all federal, state and other regulatory compliance areas. When FML and regulatory changes are enacted, the pihms team incorporates these changes into our products. The client is notified of the changes and planned software updates. Once the change is designed and ready to be incorporated into our software, the design concept is reviewed with the client. When the change is ready for implementation, new training material is provided to the client and web or on-site training is completed.

7. Does pihms support the ability to manage company and/or union specific leave policies?

Yes, pihms can be configured to incorporate all employer sponsored leave events during the implementation process. If business rules or polices change they can be easily (and immediately) updated. The system provides a daily decrementing of the available leave balances keeping the employee availability up to date.

Yes, pihms captures day one absence and tracks all increments of time away from work.  The system provides a daily decrementing of the available leave balances keeping the employee availability up to date.

9. What reporting functionality and capabilities are available with pihms?

pihmsAnalytic Solutions provide over  125 informative, in-depth standard reports that offer comprehensive ‘Up-to-the-minute’ insight into productivity levels across an organization as well as benchmarking data points for use in periodic analysis.  The included Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) functionality allows for user defined reporting requirements and ‘data dashboards’ to be outlined and configured for each stakeholder group (manager, HR dept, Executive Leadership). Quick access to relevant data provides each group with up to the minute details regarding staffing levels, overall policy compliance and productivity.

10. Is this solution out of the box or can it be modified?

The solution is ready to use out of the box and but can also be configured for client specific drop down values, terminology and branding which is a part of the standard implementation process.
