Patrick Kalnas

Patrick Kalnas

Patrick Kalnas is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Carnegie Mellon University’s Master of Public Management Program. Over his career, Mr. Kalnas has been an advisor and consultant to dozens of companies in the areas of absence management, human resources and risk management. He used these experiences, including the knowledge he gained from co-founding a computer consulting company in 1991, to found pihms Inc. and develop the company’s flagship product, an integrated health and productivity management software solution for employers. In 2007, Mr. Kalnas and pihms Inc. received a patent on their best-practice business process which is embedded in the various pihms solutions. Mr. Kalnas has presented on the subjects of health, productivity, and risk management to employer audiences both nationally and abroad. In addition to Mr. Kalnas being the CEO, he also serves on the Board of Directors for pihms Inc.

Patrick F. Cua

Executive Vice President - Sales & Marketing

Patrick F. Cua

Patrick earned his B.S./B.A. from John Carroll University and has 24 years of experience at public and private companies. Mr. Cua led the sales and marketing efforts for “startups” through large scaled organizations such as C.R. BARD, CorSolutions and Matria Healthcare. He was instrumental in CorSolutions being acquired by Matria for $450 million. Mr. Cua’s previous role was Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Matria Healthcare which was acquired by Inverness Medical for $1.2 billion.

Jim Eicker

CFO

Jim earned his BSBA in Accounting, with a minor in Computer Science from Duquesne University in 1986, passing the CPA exam in 1988. Mr. Eicker has accounting experience with both small private CPA firms and large insurance companies. Jim’s two previous roles were Manager of Accounting (Highmark of Western PA) and then Controller and VP of Finance (Gordon Health Ventures).

Thornton Kuntz

Chief Administrative Officer

Thornton began his association with pihms, Inc. in May 2010, and provides his services to pihms through his human resources advisory solutions business, Austin Consulting Group, LLC. Thornton formed Austin Consulting Group in September 2009, and provides expertise to emerging and mid-market companies in Human Resources, corporate administration, mergers & acquisitions, executive & Board compensation, talent management & acquisition, strategic planning, change management, organizational alignment, learning & development, succession planning, process design, external/internal communications and public reporting.

From August 1992 until August 2008, Thornton served with Alere f/k/a Matria Healthcare, Inc. f/k/a Healthdyne, Inc. holding the positions of Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, and Vice President of Administration. He was a key advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors and successfully led numerous strategic initiatives including the integration of the three companies that formed Alere which generated $25 million in synergies; talent management process and organizational redesign to transition Matria from a maternity management business into a market leading disease management, medical informatics and health & wellness company; assessment and integration process that formed Matria which achieved in excess of $40 million in synergies; creation of Matria’s infrastructure enabling its growth from $120 million to nearly $500 million in annual revenues; assimilation of over 15 acquisitions; and realignment of the Company following 7 divestitures and spin-offs.

Prior to joining Healthdyne, he was associated with Glasrock Home Health Care, Inc. from January 1985 until August 1992, where he served as Vice President Human Resources and led the achievement of a 35-plus percent increase in company-wide labor productivity and the integration of over 20 acquisitions. Thornton earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of New Orleans in 1975.

Kathleen Helms

Vice President - Business Process Development

Kathleen earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from California University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s Degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and has over 35 years experience working as a Senior Manager in the fields of Safety, Risk Management, HR, Labor Relations and Process Engineering in manufacturing, utility and service industries. Since joining pihms, Inc. Kathleen has served as a Subject Matter expert and Project Manager.

Amy Song

Vice President - Software Development

Amy earned her M.S. degrees from both Peking University and University of Detroit Mercy and received training as a PH.D candidate from Michigan Technological University. During the last 10 years with pihms, Amy has been responsible for team building, software innovation and project delivery in the software development area. With her combined knowledge and experience in scientific research, engineering, software design/development and IT management, Amy has lead the successful design, development and delivery of many large scale software projects across various industries.

Larry Sui

Vice President of Technology

Larry holds a Master Degree from the Cardiovascular Institute & Fuwai Hospital, CAMS & PUMC as well as a number of professional Information Technology certificates. After formal Resident/Fellow training and years of successful practice as a cardiac surgeon with great passion for computers, Larry now focuses on striving for excellence in IT innovation. Larry is also a hands-on Enterprise Architect with over a decade of IT experience. After joining pihms in 2003, he initiated and led the architecture design and implementation of the web-based pihms solution to several Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Sui is responsible for the infrastructure/application architecture, security, and production availability.

Jim Byers

Software QA Engineer

Jim earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, a Masters Degree from Dayton University and has over 25 years experience working in the Software Quality Assurance field. Prior to joining pihms, Inc., Jim was employed at Mellon Bank and NCR in various Quality Assurance and software development positions. The ability to view quality as both a programmer and a tester is a unique qualification that is represented in the high standards used to judge the pihms software application.
